We begin our day with a step on guide that will share with us some of Tampa’s history. “Return to the Victorian era as you gaze upon the H. B. Plant Museum located on the University of Tampa Campus in the former Tampa Bay Hotel built in 1891 as a palatial resort. This elegant structure stands on 150 acres of lush tropical grounds overlooking the Hillsborough River. The hotel was built and furnished by railroad tycoon Henry Bradford Plant recapturing an aura for an opulent Victorian resort”.
We are having lunch at Shells one of Tampa’s finest seafood restaurant. Choose from Linguine Pasta with Shrimp or Chicken in a white wine and fresh cream sauce, Crab Cake sandwich served with Shells signature mandarin slaw or Fried Shrimp or Fish Basket served with parsley potatoes, fountain drink and a small dessert. After lunch we will go to the Florida Aquarium in Tampa. The aquarium opened in March 1995, 152,000 sq. ft. and tells Florida’s unique water story as it follows a drop of water from its underground source to the open sea. Over 10,000 aquatic plants and animals both native to Florida and from all over the globe. Some of the other highlights include a 5,000 gallon touch tank to pet live sharks and rays, Five live animal encounters daily (Wetlands Gallery), Coral Reefs Gallery simulates a 60 foot dive starting in shallow water reefs and descending to deeper darker waters.
